Sunset
Earthquake. Enamel on copper, 8.5 x 11 inches, 2012
This piece metaphorically compares the loss of a loved one to natural disaster. The appropriated map image refers to impact measurement zones across the earth. It was created as the final installment of the Sunset Series (below), in which I was looking at people's vacation photos posted online---beloved, ubiquitous, generic, and ultimately ineffective time capsules.
